Merry Christmas!!

I haven't posted in FOREVER... but i had to give you a sneak preview of the Christmas card. You can not imagine how hard it is to get a pic of them together. Millie is on the move and Carter knows that I want him to work with me and he does the opposite. We did two different photo 'sessions' but there was a common thing in both...

For those of you that keep up with Lori Machen's blog, Molly is only a couple of months older than Carter. Anyone want to argue that girls mature faster than boys? He started whining as soon as we got to the mall, he just wanted to go shopping. Millie was not the least bit anxious until we actually placed her in Santa's lap. I'm sure that her anxiety was not helped at all by her older brother. All the Santa pics over the last 3 years have been priceless. I think this will provide plenty of laughs for a long time!! (I know Santa looks a little grumpy, but he was really nice. He took his time talking to Carter and did everything he could to prevent what ultimately happened...)

Millie - 15 Months

These were taken right after the exciting Arkadelphia Christmas Parade. I hate that all of you missed it. I'm sorry I don't have any pics of the actual parade. It was interesting... high school drill team on four-wheelers, another group of grown men on four-wheelers wearing antlers, roped together and 'pulling' santa. The list goes on and on. Millie's blank face my be from being completely overwhelmed.

Millie - 14 Months

I am WAY behind on my posting so I'm going to play some major catch up today. Millie started going to Mother's Day out this past month. Halloween was her first day and she went last week. There were no tears on day 1, but I think she had us figured out the second time around. But overall she has done great. She has quite a bit of stranger anxiety at times, Carter NEVER cared who had him so this has been an adjustment. Ms. Naomi is amazed at how much she eats...I think they even give her the other kids leftovers. The poor thing, they probably think I'm starving her.

Her motor skills are coming right along. She is now crawling on a consistent basis, the scoot is now only used when she needs her hands free. She has started pulling up to stand against the coach, ottoman etc. She has a little 6 month old friend in the nursery that is doing all the same things. Pretty funny (sad)!! She loves to walk while you're holding her hands, but she will not walk around furniture yet. She hasn't figured out she can 'cruise.' Just this weekend she started putting weight on her feet and hands at the same time like she was just going to stand up and go. We'll see. I'll still be suprised if we have a walker by Christmas.

Millie is starting to try out 'words'. When you ask her to say something you can really tell she works at it and sometimes she gets pretty close. Things she says that almost sound like they should: Momma, cracker, kitty, hot, Pop. She can also make a lot of the animal sounds. Nothing like Carter did, but she hasn't shown the interest in animals that he did.

These pictures are from her first day of School.

HALLOWEEN

We had a couple of Halloween parties. One at school and one at church. These are some glimpses of my Cowboy and Ballerina. Carter requested the rope, he needed it to rope the calves. He got most of his Cowboy/Bull Riding gear for his birthday and he was so excited. Millie LOVED the chance to eat a sucker. I think she had a dum-dum in her mouth the entire time and if she didn't she was NOT a happy camper.

The Scoot

Millie 13 Months

Miss Millie is getting cuter by the day. I'm not prejudice at all! She is very independent in some areas...she likes to feed herself, no food seems as good if I feed it to her. She is not so independent in the area of mobility. She is a GREAT booty scooter!! And she will crawl on occasion (ex: if a dirty diaper gets in the way of the scooting). But she would prefer if I carried her everywhere, she will scoot right up to you and just put her hands up in the air.

Carter picks on her all the time!! One reason for the minimal crawling might be because whenever she starts he likes to give a little nudge that causes a nice face plant into the carpet. He also wants to make sure that they get equal time in all areas, he will tell me to 'tell Millie not to play with that' or 'tell Millie not to splash' the list goes on and on. What will he do when she starts walking??

Flashback

Does anyone remember last Halloween and the purple dragon costume that Carter would NOT put on? Well I was going thru his closet last week and he just HAD to wear the dragon, of course!! We won't mention that it was over 90 degrees that day and he was ridiculously hot and sweaty, but he loved the costume. But I would almost guarantee that if I bought him something similar for this Halloween he wouldn't wear it. But not to worry, it's taken 3 years but I might be getting some of this mom stuff figured out. Be on the lookout for an ADORABLE little cowboy...ROAR!!!!

Carter's Birthday Party (and my first Flickr experiment)

We had a great time at Carter's party. It was the 3rd tailgate where OBU had the inflatables. It took that many times for Carter to get really warmed up, but obviously he loved them. I am experimenting with Flickr, we'll see how it works. I'll load the rest of the pictures the old fashioned way...

Hello and Goodbye!!

This was a big weekend for Miss Millie. She wore her first pair of blue jeans, they were too cute!! She ate her first Oreo, which she loved. It was a Halloween Oreo so the middle was orange which made it all even messier. The big 'milestones' were her front 2 teeth have broken thru, so she'll be able to actually bite into things soon. Yea for Millie. She is doing an amazing job with just her gums but teeth have to make it easier. The other milestone...she is no longer using a pacifier to go to sleep. She has always required 2 things to sleep, a paci and a super soft blanket. It didn't matter if you laid her down with one she had to have the other too. But this Saturday night she was up really late because of the OBU game and I thought she might just be tired enough to go to sleep without the paci. So I laid her down and went to get Carter dressed for bed. She fussed for maybe a couple of minutes and then it was sleepy time. And that was the end of the pacifier. She did fuss quite a bit at my Mom's yesterday, but she has been GREAT at home. Yea! No more having to pull the crib away from the wall to find the missing paci. The transition was soooo much easier then it was with Carter. He cried for hours the first time he went to bed without his. But Millie has always been an easier sleeper than he was (is). You might have noticed I almost never post pictures of all of us. This is why, it is impossible to get everyone looking at the camera and not making silly faces. Here was this weekends attempt at the 3 of us.

The Scoot!

I tried to get a picture and video of Millie scooting, but it was really hard. She gets from point A to point B but you can't really tell how she got there. These were taken on her actual birthday...
